Common VPL Error Indicators

Standard LED blink patterns for Sony VPL-H/VPL-VW/VPL-FHZ series. Note: Always refer to the specific service manual for your model.

LED Status Description Likely Cause & Action
LAMP/COVER flashes 2 times High Temperature Internal temp sensor triggered. Check filters, intake vents, and ambient room temp.
LAMP/COVER flashes 3 times Lamp Error Lamp failed to strike. Check lamp hours, seating, and ballast output.
ON/STANDBY flashes 4 times Fan Error Cooling fan stopped or tachometer signal lost. Check Fan 1 (Intake) and Fan 3 (Power).
WARNING Solid Filter Warning Filter cleaning cycle timer exceeded. Clean filter and reset counter in menu.
All LEDs Flashing System Error Main board or I2C bus failure. Requires bench diagnostics.
Restricted Access

Factory / Service Menu Access

Warning: Adjusting values in the service menu can brick your projector or void calibration. Use for hours reset and error log viewing only.

Standard VPL Remote Sequence

With projector in Standby (Red LED solid):

  1. Press Enter
  2. Press Enter
  3. Press Left
  4. Press Enter
  5. When prompted, press Up to confirm.

Note: On some Pro models, the sequence is Menu > Enter > Up > Down.

Panel Alignment (Factory)

Accessing the 12-zone fine convergence grid requires the "Device" submenu code. Please contact technical support for model-specific codes.

Common HEX commands for Crestron/AMX/Control4 integration.

Power ON:

Power OFF (Standby):

Baud Rate: 38400 or 9600 (Model dependent), Data: 8 bit, Parity: None, Stop: 1 bit.
